BNP is not backing down from its one-point movement

Speaking to Prothom Alo on Saturday night, BNP Standing Committee member Abdul Moin Khan said that the post-poll programs will be revealed a day later. BNP is in the struggle to restore the democratic rights of the people through peaceful agitation. BNP will continue its legitimate agitation on the streets until this demand is met.

According to BNP, currently 27,000 of its leaders and workers including party general secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir are in jail. Court punishments are also added to this. So far, 1,294 party leaders and workers have been sentenced to various terms of imprisonment in 84 separate cases.

Sources say that in the coming days, along with the one-point demand, the demand for the release of thousands of jailed BNP leaders and workers including Khaleda Zia and the party general secretary will also be raised. The parties which are with BNP in the movement together will also join the movement to remove the government. The leaders of these parties are considering the strategy of the upcoming movement and programs. He believes that the government has virtually no public support. On one hand the government remains dependent on the state machinery and on the other hand it remains in power due to the influence of the neighboring country. It is with the full support and backing of these two forces that they are conducting a ‘one-sided’ election, an election in which everyone belongs to the Awami League or its supporting forces.
