The BNP general secretary and standing committee member was taken into custody in the early hours of Friday. Harun-or-Rashid, head of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch, said, “The allegation against him is that he instigated and planned the brutal attack on the police, including throwing crude bombs. We got this information after questioning him.”
Meanwhile, pro-BNP lawyers launched a demonstration at the court premises protesting the arrest of party leaders, claiming that the police asked them to “leave” the court grounds.
