Of the 29 expelled leaders, 25 are contesting for general councilor posts and four reserved for women councillors.

Earlier, on May 6, Prothom Alo had run a report under the headline ’24 BNP leader-activists competing for councilor posts in Ghazipur city polls’.

Ghazipur BNP member secretary Shaukat Hussain Sarkar told ALO earlier that 30 BNP leaders participated in the election in violation of the central decision. One of them withdrew his name. That is why the party decided to permanently expel 29 leaders from the party.
