Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, general secretary of the Paurshawa Jubo League, said that the peace rally of the District Jubo League was attacked by a BNP procession.
“At least 50 leaders-workers were injured in the attack by BNP miscreants,” he said.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Mohd Sajedul Islam told Prothom Alo that adequate police force was deployed before the start of the rally, yet the clash took place.
He said law enforcers later fired three tear gas shells to calm the situation.
