BNP Secretary General Fakhrul criticized the budget that favors the rich in FY 2024-25

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday alleged that the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 has made provision for a fresh plunder of the country's wealth.

Speaking at a seminar, he accused Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of covering up the possibility of money laundering by making a remark about using bait to catch fish.

“Just by looking at the budget, you can understand that another feast for the big fishes has been arranged,” the BNP leader said.

Citing the views of economic analysts, he said that the new budget will do nothing but harm the country.

He said that rising inflation is the biggest crisis for the common people as the skyrocketing prices of commodities have made their life unbearable.

Finance Minister AH Mahmood Ali on Thursday tabled the proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 in Parliament, which includes a provision to legalise undeclared money by paying a 15 per cent tax.
