BNP leaders say that the movement will continue until the government which ‘regained power through unilateral and imaginary elections’ is not removed. However, he will have to wait for some more time to launch new programs to restore confidence among workers and supporters.
Meanwhile, senior party leaders, including Action Chairman Tariq Rehman, have started holding virtual meetings at the organizational level to decide the style and strategy of the movement in the new circumstances. Separate meetings have also been held with leaders of some like-minded alliances. In these meetings, thanks were mainly given to the leaders of the alliances involved in the movement. They were also asked for suggestions regarding new programmes.
Sources say that BNP is currently focusing more on the legal processes to get its leaders and workers released from jail rather than any immediate program. A standing committee meeting was held in this regard on Monday. The acting president held a virtual meeting the next day, Tuesday, with leaders of the Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum, the party’s lawyers’ front. Lawyers were urged to stand with jailed BNP men across the country and provide them legal aid. BNP leaders are watching what role the government or courts play in the legal process for bail of party leaders and workers. After that the leaders will concentrate on the programs as per the circumstances.
