BNP’s next step cautious: Party plans to make the movement successful through peaceful means

At one point in the meeting, Tariq Rehman raised the issue of the consequences of deliberately deceiving people.

A leader present at that meeting said that the BNP leader discussed why a person joins politics and what could be the last wish of a politician.

He noted that only a handful of people attended the janaza (funeral) of veteran politician and former BNP MLA Ukil Abdus Sattar.

By invoking this, Tariq Rehman wanted to remind the coalition leaders that people’s love is the ultimate goal of a politician. Going against the will of the people due to any greed or inducement can never be a good sign for a politician.

Let us tell you that Ukil Abdus Sattar was the BNP MP from Brahmanbaria-2. As per the party’s decision, Sattar resigned from Parliament along with six other BNP MPs. But later he resigned from the post of BNP Chairperson Advisory Council Member and contested the by-election from Brahmanbaria-2 constituency. BNP later expelled him. Sattar won the by-election on 1 February. He died on 29 September.
