The new upazilas are Mokamtala, which will be created by dividing Shibganj upazila in Bogura; Matamuhuri, by dividing Chakriya Upazila into Cox’s Bazar; Ruhiya and Bhulli, by dividing Sadar Upazila into Thakurgaon; And by dividing Chandraganj, Sadar Upazila into Lakshmipur.
There are currently 495 upazilas in Bangladesh. With these five additions, the number will increase to 500.
