Border clashes: Firing and mortar shelling overnight at Naikhongchhari border

Local people said Myanmar’s Dhekibunya border post falls on the other side of the border of Ghumdhum union of Naikhongchari upazila and Palongkhali union of Ukhiya upazila.

There was firing and mortar shelling between the rebel group Arakan Army and Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) over the capture of Dhekibunya post at 11:00 pm on Sunday night.

On Monday, two people, including a Rohingya, were killed in Jalpaitali village when a mortar shell from Myanmar fell on Bangladesh territory.
