BRAC organizes roundtable discussion on disaster preparedness

Kamrul Hasan, Secretary, Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief (MoDMR), attended the event as the chief guest and Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, Director General, Department of Disaster Management (DDM), was present as the special guest.

The roundtable event was chaired by KAM Morshed, Senior Director, BRAC Advocacy, Innovation and MEAL. The event was attended by various stakeholders including officials from relevant government agencies, experts, professionals, representatives of UN agencies, NGOs, teachers, researchers and journalists.

At the beginning of the roundtable discussion, Dr. Mohammad Liaquat Ali, Director of BRAC's Climate Change Program (CCP), Urban Development Program (UDP), and Disaster Risk Management Program (DRMP) gave a keynote presentation focusing on risks. About disasters and climate change in Bangladesh. He highlighted Bangladesh's overall progress in disaster preparedness, the government's success, existing challenges and BRAC's initiatives to increase community awareness and preparedness in disaster-prone areas through innovative solutions. Based on these topics, the speakers shared their important comments and recommendations.
