Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Chairman Khondokar Rashed Maqsood and four commissioners of the regulatory body have resigned.
He submitted his resignation letter to the Financial Institutions Division of the Finance Ministry today, Thursday morning.
The division’s secretary, Najma Mobarek, confirmed the news to Prothom Alo.
According to sources in the Financial Institutions Division, he cited personal reasons for stepping down. The four commissioners who resigned are Mohammad Mohsin Chaudhary, Mohammad Ali Akbar, Farzana Lalrukh and Mohammad Saifuddin.
A new chairman and commissioners are reportedly expected to be appointed today, and the process has already begun. The name of a senior officer of a multinational company is being discussed for the post of Chairman.
