Yesterday was 15th August, independence day of India. Four BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh) jawans went to see the Independence Day function at Petraploe which is opposite of Bangladesh side Benapole. Though they were at the no man’s land they were taken by the Indian security forces at gunpoint. The jawans were not in uniform at that time. After learning that they are BGB members the Indian police handed them over to the Indian Border guard BSF (Border Security Force).
Now the jowans are being interrogated by the BSF. The local BGB commander said high level contacts have made to back the jawans.

Though Bangladeshi border guard was an efficient and well trained force which successfully resisted an Indian attempt to invade a Bangladeshi village Roumari, but a mutiny in the border guard killed many of its officers and many of its jawans (soldiers) are now under trial for their alleged involvement in the mutiny. The BGB officials claim that the force which is Bangladesh’s first line of defense is still string and capable like before.
