BTCL tariff increased

BTCL is the largest PSTN operator of the country. It is also a state owned company. Though mobile phone operators have outnumbered BTCL in terms of subscribers, many people still likes BTCL. Sound quality is much better in copper wire than wireless transmission.

BTCL has increased is tariff and line rent. According to BTCL web site the new tariff is already effective. Now line rent in Dhaka, Chittagong and Khulna multi exchange is 160 taka which was 80 taka per month.

BTCL to BTCL call rate in peak hour is 0.30 taka and it is 0.10 taka in the off peak hour.

Calla rate for other operators are 0.80 taka per minute, which was 0.65 taka.

08:00 am to 08:00 pm is considered as peak hour.

BTCL authority is expecting to increase its revenue by this new tariff. It also claims that its call rate is still lower than other operators.
