Sufiyan was a construction worker in a contracting firm while Nasreen was a garment worker.
The police chief said the couple was living as tenants on the ground floor of a six-storey building in the area. On Friday afternoon, there was a dispute between the two over domestic matters. Around 11:30 pm, Sufiyan also spoke to one of his relatives regarding the matter.
Locals and the gatekeeper of the building noticed smoke coming out of the couple’s flat in the early hours of Saturday. On not getting any response from the couple inside, they informed the local police station about the fire.
Ashraf said that after law enforcers entered the house, they found Nasreen’s body on the bed and her husband’s body on the floor.
