Former Bangladesh Bank Governor and economist, Professor Mohammad Farashuddin, has described the caretaker government system as “purely” bureaucratic maladministration.
He commented that by relying on this system, politicians are effectively demonstrating a lack of confidence in themselves, which is by no means a positive indicator.
Mohammad Farashuddin made these comments while delivering his address as a distinguished speaker at the ‘Nehrin Khan Memorial Lecture and Award Ceremony 2026’ organized at the private East West University in the capital on Sunday.
Speaking at the event, held for the eighth time, he presented a written paper titled ‘Constitutional Reforms and Democratic Governance: Bangladesh Perspective’.
In his address, he outlined a wide range of proposals aimed at parliamentary and constitutional reform in Bangladesh.
