Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Qazi Habibul Awal has summoned a local election officer and asked him to investigate the allegations of election engineering leveled by Ashraful Alam alias Hero Alam, independent candidate from Bogura-4 constituency, who Lost by a small margin in Bogura-4. Voting took place yesterday.
The CEC today summoned Assistant Electoral Officer and Senior Electoral Officer of Bogura district Mahmood Hasan on Thursday and ordered an inquiry into Hero Alam’s allegation.
Hero Alam, who was leading in the counting of votes, alleged that the results of 10 polling stations were changed to ensure his defeat.
Mehmood Hasan said that the CEC called him because the allegations made by Hero Alam on the media came to their notice. Election officials later re-verified the results of each polling station in Nandigram Upazila.
