Chairman of Grameen Bank: Legal acquisition of seven institutions, Dr. Yunus not included

The Chairman of Grameen Bank claimed that he had evidence that Dr. Yunus had laundered money. Dr. Yunus took out billions of money to establish institutions like Rural Telecom, Rural Welfare and Rural Fund. Chairman of Grameen Bank said, this picture has come to light in the audit of the last seven months.

He claimed that Dr. Yunus did not establish institutions like Grameen Telecom, Grameen Kalyan and other cooperative institutions out of business profits. Rather, he established these institutions with the money of Grameen Bank.

Saiful Majid said institutions like rural welfare and rural telecom were established in the 1990s. But many important records of these institutions are no longer available after being destroyed.

He said that Grameen Kalyan was established in 1996 in the 42nd meeting of the Board of Directors of Grameen Bank as per the Companies Act. Dr. Yunus withdrew Tk 4.47 billion from Grameen Bank for the establishment of rural welfare. He also took a donation of 240 million taka from the bank while establishing Grameen Telecom but the bank has not received any interest or profit yet.
