The hard-earned money sent by 12 million migrant workers is enriching the country’s economy. Our migrant workers make up a significant portion of the deficit in export-import trade. Every year a large number of Bangladeshi workers are going abroad overcoming many obstacles. But the remittance flow is not increasing in that proportion. A total of 1.21 million Bangladeshi workers went abroad in the first 11 months of 2023, and the figure was 1.18 million in 2022.

Bangladesh is the sixth largest source of migrant workers and the seventh largest recipient of remittances. Migrant workers to send US$22 billion in 2022.
