Chinese officials said on Saturday that the number of COVID-19-related deaths in hospitals between December 8 and January 12 stood at 59,938, with an average age of 80.3 years.
Officials told a media briefing that 5,503 of those fatalities were due to respiratory failure due to COVID infections, while 54,435 were due to a combination of other diseases and COVID infections.
