Wang Yi said that China will attach importance to Yunus’ call to Chinese solar panel manufacturers to set up plants in Bangladesh.
The chief adviser said this when the Chinese Ambassador in Dhaka paid a courtesy visit to him last month.
The Chinese foreign minister said Beijing would also encourage greater cooperation and partnerships between companies from the two countries. He said Bangladesh would also benefit from the Chinese decision to allow zero tariffs on all goods from least developed countries.
He said the Chinese Red Cross has sent a team of doctors to treat students and people seriously injured during the popular uprising in July-August. Wang Yi also said China would welcome more students from Bangladesh.
Professor Yunus thanked China for the move. He also praised China’s “amazing” efforts to lift hundreds of millions of people out of poverty.
