A clash broke out on Thursday afternoon between the leaders and workers of CGC and Sixty-Nine over the previous conflict. Sultan Mehboob, who was brandishing a large knife, lives in a room in Shah Amanat Hall. This hall is controlled by Mirza Khabir Sadaf, Vice President of Chhatra League. Rubel Mia and Mohammad Safal live in Shahjalal Hall. This hall is controlled by General Secretary Iqbal Hussain.
Sultan Mahbub admitted to Prothom Alo that he was wielding a big knife. He said that many people had participated in the clash with such machetes and knives. He was not alone. Meanwhile, Mohammad Safal claimed that he was not even present at the incident and the photographs and video clips were fake. Rubel Miah said he was in a fight, but he had no knife.
When asked, General Secretary Iqbal Hussain and Vice President Mirza Khabir Sadaf said that if there was evidence that they were firing weapons, action could be taken.
On 31 May and 1 June, the Sixty-Nine and the CFC became embroiled in a clash over hanging out at a tea shop. A total of 16 people from both sides were injured in the clash. Three people who were fleeing the fight with weapons were identified. However, no action has been taken so far.
Speaking to Prothom Alo, university proctor Nurul Azim Sikdar said that an investigation committee will be formed and the student involved will be identified.
