Apart from this, there is a rule to send children accused of criminal offenses to safe custody through the courts. Expressing regret for Saqib, the lawyer said that children are kept with the prisoners in the jail.
Jahedul Kabir, in-charge of the Kotwali police station, said that he had picked up Saqib from the scene of the clash that day. In response to a question, the OC also put a counter question, “Can’t a student be charged with a case after having committed an offence?”
The OC said that if he is below 18 years of age then legal action will be taken after investigation.
