In Panchgarh, all educational activities in primary schools have been suspended as the minimum temperature in the district dropped below 10 0 Celsius on Thursday. However, due to delay in the announcement most of the schools were declared closed between 10:45 am and 11:15 am.
Light cold wave prevailed in all the districts of Rangpur division, Kishoreganj and Naugaon. BMD meteorologist MD Monwar Hussain said the cold wave is likely to spread further to new areas on Friday.
Apart from this, rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at one or two places over Khulna, Barishal, Dhaka, Chattogram and Rajashahi divisions. The weather may remain mainly dry with temporary cloudy skies at other places.
Moderate to dense fog may occur at some places across the country on Friday morning, which may persist till afternoon. The weather forecast said communication through airways, inland waterways and roadways may be temporarily disrupted due to fog.
Speaking to Prothom Alo, meteorologist Omar Farooq said, ‘The temperature may drop further tonight. This will further increase the severity of the cold wave. The weather is likely to remain like this till Tuesday. “Although the temperature is likely to rise, it will remain extremely cold throughout the month.”
