Combating Underage Marriage in Bangladesh Project: National Sharing Program 2023

At the event, Tirtha Sarathi Sikdar, Senior Project Manager, Plan International Bangladesh, highlighted various aspects of the project to be completed this year.

He informed the attendees about the significant contributions, outcomes and challenges of the project and exchanged ideas and participated in the discussion. He informed that the project is actively working with 129,000 parents of the community under the leadership of 1,032 champion parents in Jhalokathi and Bhola districts.

As a result of the successful implementation of this project, 140,998 adolescents in Jhalakathi and Bhola are now aware about sexual and reproductive health, gender equality and child protection issues as they are working as active representatives in the field to prevent child marriage .

Additionally, 3,092 youth have become self-reliant through economic development training and financial assistance from the project, while 108 youth have found employment through technical training sessions.
