On 13 June, Prime Minister Tariq Rahman and his wife Zubaida Rahman visited Wasim’s grave and expressed condolences to his parents. At that time, his mother, Josna Begum, had only one request to the Prime Minister to expedite the trial of those responsible for her son’s murder.

While talking to Wasim’s mother and sister, his father Shafiul Alam was working in a fish pond about one and a half kilometers away. Speaking there, he said, “Every day, at some point, I go and sit near Wasim’s grave. I talk to my son. When I’m there, I never feel like leaving him behind. It’s as if my son is saying, ‘Dad, don’t leave me.'”

He said, “My son sacrificed his life to save the country. He made us proud. Now we have only one demand. Those who killed Wasim and all other martyrs should be brought to justice. Only then will we get peace.”
