After the presentations, Azadi Party convenor Lt Col (retd) Md Haseenur Rahman spoke to reporters.

He alleged that both the former presidents remained silent while so many people were killed and forcibly disappeared till August 5. He claimed that his silence amounted to tacit approval of those alleged crimes.

Munshi Borhan Mahmood, the party’s chief organizer, said the complaints pertained to former presidents Abdul Hamid and Mohammad Shahabuddin.

They alleged that, during their respective tenures as heads of state, Bangladesh had committed atrocities including the Pilkhana massacre, Shapala crackdown, extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, executions, “Ayanaghar” (a secret detention facility) detention facilities and other alleged mass atrocities.
