Dhaka’s multi-storey buildings, including residential and commercial structures, lack adequate fire control, fire suppression, fire protection planning and procedures, and safe building evacuation facilities.
911 Rehab is a member and currently, there are more than 1500 businesses in real estate in Bangladesh. Nevertheless, there were about 285,000 fire incidents in the last two decades in various establishments.
Atiqul Islam, mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation, said that fire safety, building safety and electrical safety should be ensured on an individual basis. Any negligence will be penalized and may lead to cancellation of trading license from the concerned authority in addition to additional penalty.
