Congress rejects invitation for Lord Ram’s consecration in Ayodhya, calls it ‘RSS, BJP programme’ – ANI News

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh alleged that the grand event is “clearly a program of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh”.

Responding to this, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari said that this is the same party which had once questioned the existence of Lord Ram.

“How will they go for darshan? Is it not true that Congress fielded senior lawyers to ensure that Ram Temple is not built there? He described Lord Ram as a fictional character. Ram Setu rejected…this has been their mentality from the beginning. I don’t think his thinking is going to change,” Tiwari said.

BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli said the decision to reject the invitation for the Ram temple event in the temple city was ‘not surprising’.

“This should come as no surprise. In the last few decades the Congress party has not really taken any steps to see that there should be a temple in Ayodhya. In fact, the Congress-UPA government had filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court denying the existence of Lord Ram. He stood firm in the court and never wanted a speedy trial,” he said.

Union Minister Puri told ANI that the grand old party will regret its decision.

“Leave them alone, let them say what they say, why do you take what they say seriously? If he does not go (to the Ram temple inauguration ceremony), he himself will regret his decision.
