The information that came out in the survey of two research institutes on Bangladesh’s business environment on Sunday is very shocking. The Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD) has conducted a survey under the title ‘Bangladesh: Business Environment 2022’. And the Center for Governance Studies (CGS) has another work on corruption in the private sector and small and medium enterprises.
Apart from corruption, the CPD’s research highlights a number of persistent issues. These include poor infrastructure, inadequate bank credit, inefficient administration, inflation, fluctuating foreign exchange rates, lack of policy consistency, complex taxation system and high tax rates, low morale among workers, lack of educated workforce, poor health care, Poor ability. Make new Nearly 64 percent of entrepreneurs and top executives in the survey identified corruption as a major problem. Further, 44.6 per cent cited weak infrastructure while 43.1 per cent cited inefficiency of the administration as the reason. Further, 35.4 and 24.6 per cent attributed complex and high tax rates.
