Earlier, DB had shown him arrested in the case and sent him to court. In the remand petition, DB said that there is a need to take the accused on remand to identify the whereabouts of the absconding suspects, arrest them and collect necessary evidence.

The petition was submitted to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate by the investigating officer of the case, DB Inspector Mohsin Uddin.

According to the petition, on July 18, 2024, as part of the quota reform movement, unarmed students and the public were taking out a peaceful procession in Azimpur Government Colony area of ​​Lalbagh. At that time, the police and unidentified persons associated with the Awami League reportedly opened fire using local and foreign firearms to suppress the movement.

In the incident, protester Mohammad Ashraful Faheem suffered bullet injuries in his left eye, head and other parts of his body. The petition states that he had registered a case at Lalbagh police station on July 17 last year.
