Lalbagh police station sub-inspector Akhtar Hussain said the accident took place around 10 pm when a speeding van rammed into a motorcycle in front of Shamim Garment on the road, injuring him critically.
He was first taken to a local hospital and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at around 1 am after his condition deteriorated, they said.
Doctors at the hospital’s emergency department declared him dead on arrival, the SI said, adding that the body was kept in the mortuary for autopsy.
