When contacted on phone around 12:30 pm, Mahmudul Hasan said, “Since the train is not going, we left for Cox’s Bazar by bus. We had no other option.”
Advocate Ruhul Amin was also traveling in the train. Frustrated by the long delay, he got off the train with his family at around 4.30 pm and arranged for alternative transportation. He rented a vehicle for Taka 2,000. However, later the railway staff asked them to board the train again.
Speaking to Prothom Alo around 8:30 pm on Tuesday, Ruhul Amin said, “We were assured that the train would leave soon. So we let go and boarded the train again. But even after several hours, the train has not left. Due to wrong information, we have faced even more trouble.”
