One section moved towards the western end of Box Culvert Road, near the Bijoy Nagar water tank, while the other section, led by Aman Ullah, moved towards the eastern end of Box Culvert Road. On reaching the western end of the Box Culvert Road, the student group leaders ambushed the police officers on duty there. Simultaneously, police officers from the east end of Box Culvert Road moved west to respond. Aman Ullah gave instructions to attack the police team advancing from the eastern direction.
During the attack, police constable Amirul was hit by a brick and fell on the ground. After this the attackers started beating him with sticks, due to which he became unconscious. He remained lying on the road unconscious and soaked in blood.
The head of the CTTC unit said that during the attack, Amirul suffered serious injuries all over his body from head to feet. The attackers kept beating his lifeless body mercilessly to ensure his death. After confirming Amirul’s death, Aman Ullah and his companions left from the western side of Box Culvert Road.
