Cyclone Midhili leaves a trail of destruction in Bangladesh and kills at least seven people

Cyclonic storm ‘Midhili’, which formed in the Bay of Bengal, swept through Barishal, Khulna and Chattogram on Friday, causing devastation and killing at least seven people.

The cyclone destroyed houses, schools, large-scale crops, and also cut power connections across the region. It also uprooted a large number of trees in various areas, causing communication disruptions on regional and local roads.

Additionally, 300 people aboard 20 fishing boats are missing at sea after the cyclone hit the Bangladesh coast.

Cyclone ‘Midhili’ was crossing the coastal region of Bangladesh at midnight on Friday. As the cyclone weakened, sea ports of Mongla, Payra, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar were advised to reduce signal numbers. 3.
