In addition, Cox's Bazar and Chittagong ports were advised to hoist major danger signal number 9. The coastal districts of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Noakhali, Lakshmipur and Chandpur and adjacent islands and chars were under major danger signal number 9.
The BMD said 16 coastal districts along with their offshore islands and grazers are likely to be inundated by wind-driven waves 8 to 12 feet above astronomical tide as Severe Cyclonic Storm Ramal moved further northwards into the northwest Bay of Bengal.
These districts are Khulna, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Pirojpur, Jhalakathi, Barguna, Barishal, Bhola, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Feni, Chandpur, Cumilla, Chattogram and Cox's Bazar, a special bulletin from the Meteorological Department said.
