Cyclone Remal kills three in coastal districts, heavy rains and tides wreak havoc

Cyclone Remal hit the Bangladesh coast at around 8:30 pm.

Power was cut off in most districts of the coastal areas. The town of Jashore lost power at around 12 midnight.

Amal Kanti Biswas, a school teacher in the Bezpada area of ​​the city, said they were facing a lot of trouble as the power went off around 11 pm and had not been restored even after 11 hours.

“Due to the storm at night, power lines were damaged in various areas. Repair work is going on since morning,” said Amulya Kumar Sarkar, acting director of the West Zone Electricity Distribution Company Limited.

The power situation has become normal in some areas but it will take some time for the situation to become completely normal.
