The death toll from the collapse of the wall of Hifz Madrasa for girls in Rohingya Camp-5 in Ukhia in Cox’s Bazar has risen to five, officials said on Wednesday.

Four of the victims have been identified, while the identity of the fifth is still unknown.

The incident occurred around 2:00 pm when heavy rain caused a wall built on the side of the hill to collapse on the madrassa, where around 30 Rohingya girls were attending classes.

The rescue operation, involving the fire service, camp officials, members of the Armed Police Battalion (APBN) and Rohingya volunteers, continued until the evening before concluding.
