The verdict against Grameen Telecom Chairman and Nobel Prize-winning economist Dr. Muhammad Yunus and three others in the case registered for violation of labor laws will be pronounced today, Monday.
Judge Begum Sheikh Merina Sultana of Dhaka’s Third Labor Court on December 24 fixed January 1 for delivering her verdict against Dr Yunus.
The Department of Inspection of Factories and Establishments (DIFE) registered a case against Dr Yunus, former Grameen Telecom managing director MD Ashraful Hasan, director Noorjahan Begum and Shahjahan on 9 September 2021. On June 6, the court had framed charges against Yunus and three others in the case.
