Bangladesh has arranged two special Gulf Air flights for expatriate Bangladeshis needing emergency travel to and from Bahrain.

The special flights will be flying from Bahrain to Dhaka via Dammam on March 27 and April 3, and will return from Dhaka to Dammam on the same dates respectively.

“Those interested in travelling to Bangladesh or returning to Bahrain from Bangladesh via these two special return flights are requested to register using the Google forms,” the Bangladesh embassy in Manama issued a notification regarding the matter on Monday.

The Google form to register for Dammam to Dhaka can be accessed using the link https://forms.gle/Z8pU1jhTEZVFBrqC6, and for Dhaka to Dammam using the link https://forms.gle/oxBLPyCnMpxd6bdi6, said the notice.

“Further instructions will be provided once the passenger capacity for the flights is reached,” it added.

Hundreds of thousands of migrants working in the Middle East or those wishing to migrate to those countries have got stranded as Gulf countries shut airspace amid US-Israel war on Iran and Iran’s retaliation on the US bases and some energy facilities in the Gulf countries.

There are some 60 lakh Bangladeshis working in the Gulf countries.

Earlier, 282 Bangladeshis from Bahrain returned to Dhaka via Dammam on March 20 with a Gulf Air chartered flight.

The same day, 186 Bangladeshis returned from Baku, Azerbaijan to Bangladesh following their evacuation from Iran.

“The evacuees crossed the Iran–Azerbaijan border by land and arrived in Dhaka on a special flight operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Baku, Azerbaijan,” said a foreign ministry statement.

Bangladesh government in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration arranged the evacuation.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed yesterday told media that some 2000 Bangladeshis, many of them students, are living in Tehran.

“They are all safe now. We will arrange evacuation if they feel unsafe. Our nationals’ safety is our first priority,” she said.

“Our missions are working round the clock for ensuring their safety as well as repatriation or relocation — whatever is required,” she added.
