Along with decisions to elevate bilateral ties, China’s decision to increase duty-free access to Bangladeshi products from 98 percent to 100 percent is being seen as an important step towards boosting trade and commerce.
Although many of the decisions taken during the visit are considered positive and forward-looking, some ambiguities and challenges remain. For example, Bangladesh expressed support for four of China’s global initiatives and signed a memorandum of understanding to join the Global Development Initiative (GDI), making clear its position on that initiative.
