Meanwhile, Dhaka North City Corporation has sent a letter to Marshall Agrovet last Monday asking it to show all evidence that Singapore Best Chemical Ltd is the manufacturer of imported BTI bacteria.
When DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam was asked about his statement that mentioned BTI bacteria imported from China, he told Prothom Alo, “They (Marshal Agrovet) can do whatever they want. If so, they will be blacklisted. However what happened is a great lesson for our Municipal Corporation.
“They (contractors) have been asked to show proof. If they cannot present evidence then action will be taken. If they are unable to submit it within Friday, they will be blacklisted,” said the mayor.
When the attention of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) executive director Iftikharuzzaman came to his attention, he told Prothom Alo on Wednesday night that three things are going on here – abuse of power, scam and fraud.
Those who are at the top level of the municipal corporation have a stake in it. He said that he will have to take responsibility for this and answer.
