Bithi demanded that the women-friendly facilities be maintained properly. “I have heard that there will be a separate coach for women. It is like a dream for us.”
Roman, a resident of Mirpur-12, who gave the same name, said that the people of Mirpur faced the most trouble during the construction of the metro rail. And now, they are going to be the first ones to avail the benefits of Metro trains.
“It used to take 30 minutes to an hour to go by bus from Mirpur-10 to Aggargaon. Now it will take only a few minutes.”
“Metro Rail will bring a major revolution in the way people move in this area. The number of bus passengers from Mirpur to Uttara is not less. Now no one will go through the trouble of going to Uttara via Kalshi, ECB, Kuril and Airport Road. People will go directly to Diabari by metro rail. This will save them time.”
Rajeeb Shaikh, the owner of a stationery shop in Mirpur, said that the metro construction work had a negative impact on his business. Many other businesses in the area suffered similar losses, as their sales declined. Some of them even closed their business.
“We are in a better position now after the completion of the construction. We are hopeful that the area will come alive again. There are some reputed schools and colleges in the neighborhood and the cantonment is also nearby. There are some residential areas near Rokaiya Sarani We expect big sales in the future.”
