When asked about the visits, a spokesman for the US Embassy in Dhaka, Brian Schiller, said the embassy refrained from disclosing any information about their arrival in Dhaka or the visit of any delegation until an official announcement from Washington.
He said the US attaches great importance to Dhaka in bilateral relations and this is evident from the visits of high-level US officials. He also hoped that this trend would continue in the future as well.
Earlier, the United States had announced a new visa policy for Bangladesh on May 24, which raised some concerns here. Later, US Under Secretary for Civil Defense, Democracy and Human Rights Uzra Zeya, accompanied by Assistant Secretary of State for Central and South Asia Donald Lu, arrived in Dhaka on July 11 for a four-day visit.
