Dhaka, Tokyo sign 8 instruments to promote cooperation for mutual benefit

The eighth MOC is the MOC in the field of information and communication technology involving cyber security between the ICT Division, Ministry of Posts Telecommunications and Information Technology and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

Agriculture Minister Muhammad Abdur Razzaq, National Board of Revenue Chairman (Senior Secretary) Abu Hena Muhammad Rahmatul Munim, Commerce Ministry Senior Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Armed Forces Division Principal Staff Officer Lt Gen Wakar-uz-Zaman, Department of Road Transport and Highways ABM Amin Ullah Noori, Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Zakia Sultana, and Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Junaid Ahmad Palak, respectively, signed the documents on behalf of Bangladesh.

Prior to the signing of the document, bilateral talks were held in a cordial atmosphere between the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and her Japanese counterpart.

Security cooperation, investment, enhancement of trade ties, cooperation in power and energy sector and issues of mutual interest related to Rohingyas topped the agenda during the talks.

Against the backdrop of the global economic slowdown and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war, the visit assumes significance as the two countries also discussed enhancing cooperation to overcome the crisis.

Upon her arrival at the Prime Minister’s Office, Sheikh Hasina was received and accorded a ceremonial welcome by her Japanese counterpart, Fumio Kishida.

The Prime Minister of Bangladesh inspected the Guard of Honor at the entrance hall of the Prime Minister’s Office there.

National anthems of both the countries were played.

A joint statement was issued after bilateral talks.
