The link roads on both sides of the culvert on the Alaipur Canal in Koyla Union of Kalaroa Upazila of Satkhira have been damaged.
Roads built on both sides of the culvert in Alaipur of Coal Union of Kalaroa Upazila of Satkhira have been submerged. The soil on both sides has also been cut. As a result, the culvert has become unsuitable for traffic and is mostly lying derelict.
This culvert has been constructed under the project ‘Construction of bridge / culvert up to 15 meters length on rural roads’ of the Disaster Management Department. Under this project, 13,000 bridges and culverts are being constructed in the country. The expenditure is estimated at Tk 65.78 billion. The project was started without any feasibility study.
