In fact, in an attempt to cover up its irregularities, the DSCC had sent a letter on October 18 last year to 22 government offices. He requested to take necessary measures to verify birth and death registration certificates using QR code by clicking on DSCC system.
But, the software used in the passport application process at the Immigration and Passport Department does not have the option to scan the QR code.
MD Saidur Rahman, director of the e-passport project, told Prothom Alo that if the birth registration number is not included in the central system of the Registrar General Office, it will not be reflected in the passport office's software.
The Registrar General's office did not agree to hand over DSCC's database, calling its servers illegal. Why should passport applicants have to bear the brunt of a dispute between two agencies or organizations of the government?
When all other government and autonomous organizations are linked to the Registrar General's Office database, why does DSCC have objections? There is no scope for stubbornness here.
