Speaking to media, the Shibir leader alleged that after assuming power through the 2008 parliamentary election, the Awami League considered Chhatra Shibir as the biggest threat to establishing fascism in the country.
Describing the extent of torture they faced under the Awami League regime, he said that in some cases, someone was picked up during prayers and later claimed to have been arrested with firearms.
“The Awami League government spread a sense of fear among us. However, this narrative fell apart after our president and general secretary came out in public saying we stood with the students,” SM Farhad said.
