Various parts of the city, including Nutanpara, Bandhanpara, Upatyaka, Hassan Nagar, Arpin Nagar, Ukilpara, DS Road, Shologhor and Shantibag are currently submerged.

Shopkeepers were seen shifting their goods to other places to avoid losses as many items have already been soaked. Water from residential areas is flowing into Jhoor Haor.

Describing the situation, local resident Mujibur Rahman said, “Most of the roads in the city are submerged in water. We offered Eid prayers while getting wet. I have never seen such rain during Eid before. There is no happiness this Eid, people are scared of floods like June 2022.”

Another local, Noorul Islam, said, “It is raining so much in Sunamganj right now that the rivers, reservoirs, canals and ponds are all submerged. The joy of Eid has been completely ruined. May Allah have mercy.”
