Eight to be prosecuted over Maradona’s death

An Argentine appeals court confirmed on Tuesday that eight medical professionals accused of responsibility in the death of football legend Diego Maradona will indeed face trial.

Neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, psychiatrist Agustina Kosachov and six others appealed a 2022 decision to put them on trial for murder with potentially aggravating circumstances.

Maradona died in November 2020 at the age of 60 while recovering from brain surgery for a blood clot and after a decades-long battle with cocaine and alcohol addiction.
