Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Kapil Sibal alleged that the assembly election results in West Bengal were influenced by institutional factors, claiming that the election was “stolen, not won.”
In a post on Twitter, Sibal on Monday said the Trinamool Congress (TMC) lost not to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) but because of the role of the Election Commission of India, the deployment of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and alleged disenfranchisement of voters.
“West Bengal. TMC has been defeated not by BJP but because of the Election Commission, Central Armed Forces (CAPF) and disenfranchisement of 25 lakh voters. This election was stolen, not won. We should stand with Mamata,” he said.
